2nd All India Police Lawn Tennis Championship, 2000, Guwahati

Assam Police conducted the second All India Police Lawn Tennis Championship, 2000 at Guwahati from 20th November to 25th November, 2000 in Nurul Amin Tennis Complex and India Club complex, Guwahati.

A total of 19 States/CPOs participated in the Championship, out of which 16 teams participated in the team events. The Championship was held for the following events :
(1) Team Chamionship
(2) Open singles/Doubles
(3) Veteran Open Singles/Doubles (age above 50 years).

In all 65 participents took part in the Championship. In the Championship, the Punjab team emerged as the Champion and the CRPF as Runners up in the team events. The Championship was inaugurated by Honourable Governor of Assam, Lt. Gen.(Retd.) S. K. Sinha on 20th November, 2000 at Nurul Amin Tennis Complex, Nehru Stadium, Guwahati. The closing and Prize Distribution Ceremony was attended by the Honourable Chief Minister of Assam, Shri P. K. Mahanta on 25th November, 2000 at the same venue.
Assam Police has donated the Team Championship Trophy to be used as a Running Trophy for the All India Police Lawn Tennis Championships.
