KLO Activist Apprehended
Guwahati 31 August, 2010 :

On 24th August, 2010 at night, on receipt of an information that a group of Kamatapur Liberation Organisation(KLO) cadres were moving along with sophisticated weapons in the general area of village Kunthaibari with a view to carry out subversive activities in Serfanguri PS area, the O/C Serfanguri PS SI (UB) Jayanata Kr. Barman and his available staff conducted search operation in general area of village Kunthaibari under Serfanguri Police Station jurisdiction, Kokrajhar District.

During the search operation, one Sri Gopal Roy (26 years), S/O Lt. Tilakchan Roy of village-Kuntahibari was apprehended by, who on interrogation revealed that, he was an active cadre of K.L.O. Later, his house was searched thoroughly and on search one 7.65 mm Pistol and 4 (four) rounds of live ammunitions was recovered. This refers Serfanguri PS Case No- 57/2010 U/S 121/121 (A)/122 IPC, R/W Sec. 25 (1-b) Arms Act.

 
DG stresses for curbing white collar crimes
Guwahati 24 August, 2010 :

The Director General of Police Assam, Shankar Barua suggests for closer interaction between law enforcement agencies and financial institutions for effective policing of white collar crimes. He also said that in to-day’s scenario police officers have little time for skill enhancements on such white collar crimes and they should make full use of the available opportunities. The DGP was addressing the valedictory session of the workshop on “ Bank Fraud: Prevention and Investigation” held at Assam Police Headquarters, Guwahati yesterday. He also elaborated on how such crimes have becoming increasingly frequent and geographically wide spread and stressed for organizing such training at regular intervals.

                        Inaugurating the workshop organized in collaboration with ICICI Bank, Addl. DGP (CID) Mukesh Sahay said that the profile of a typical fraudster in to-day’s context has gradually evolved into that of a white collars criminal. The medium through which the fraud is committed being very advanced and complicated, would require a high level of expertise for detection-he added.

                        The workshop which was attended by  34 officers was also addressed by RM Singh, IGP (TAP) and S. Choudhury, regional head, ICICI Bank.

 
Venue of Written Test Shifted
Guwahati 29 July, 2010 :
The venue of the Written Test for the post of SI(UB) of Police in respect of the candidates of Kamrup(Rural) district sheduled to be held at K.C.Das Commerce College, Guwahati on 1st August, 2010 from 9 am has been shifted to Nichols High School, Chatribari, Guwahati due to some unavoidable circumstances. However, the date and time of the written test has remained unchanged.
Candidates of Kamrup (Rural) district are requested to attend the written test for the above post at Nichols High School, Chatribari, Guwahati as per date and time.
 
Police apprehendeds two ULFA militants
Guwahati 5 July, 2010 :

Police has apprehended two ULFA militants during Nakas checking at Dhola in Tinsukia district while the militants were driving motor cycle last night. The nabbed ULFA militants are Mantu Dihingia of Kakatibari, Sivasagar and Prabin Tamuli of Pengiri, Tinsukia. Police has also recovered one 9 mm pistol, three rounds of live ammunitions, four mobile set and several copies of ULFA demand letters from their possession.

 
NDFB activist shot dead
Guwahati 3 July, 2010 :

One NDFB activist was shot dead at Khairabari under Tamulpur PS in Baska district in an encounter which took place in between Assam Police, Army personnel and group of NDFB extremist last night. Police has recovered on 7.65 mm pistol, one Chinese Grenade, one bi-cycle fitted with improvised explosice device, one bag iron nail with explosive powder and some fuse wire from the encounter spot. The other extremists flew away under the cover of darkness. The extremists came with a plan for explosion in and around Tamulpur Bazar which the police could prevent successfully in time.

 
Abducted Manager Rescued
Guwahati 1 July, 2010 :

Police has rescued safely the Brick-Klin Manager Shri Manoj Sarma who was abducted by some miscreants while he was working in his brick field at Palasguri under Nelie PS in Morigaon district yesterday. On getting information Morigaon police immediately rushed to the spot and conducted search operation in the areas bordering Baithalangsu PS. Similar raid was also conducted by Karbi-Anglong police in the bordering areas under Hamren PS. After vigorious search police suucessfully rescued the abducted Brick-Klin Manager safely from Horu Rongkhoy area under Baithalangsu PS.

 
ULFA Militant Nabbed
Guwahati 30 June, 2010 :

In a joint search operation conducted by police and CRPF personnel at Bhakuma Bill under Serfanguri PS in Kokrajhar district, one ULFA militant namely Dipak Kr Das, age 25 years of 709 Bn. of the outfit was caught red handed last night. Police has recovered several copies of extortion letter from his possession.

 
Polie apprehends two persons illegally collecting money
GUwahati 29 June, 2010 :

Police has apprehended two miscreants at Baihata Chariali while collecting money illegally from public vehicles playing between Mangaldoi - Guwahati and in between Guwahati - Baihata Chariali yesterday. Police has also recovered rupees six thousand eight hundred eighty from their possession. In this connection a case has been registered at Baihata Charilai PS and the accused persons have been sent to judicial custody. Meanwhile Police has strenghten patrolling and close monitoring to check and curb such illegal activities.

 
Two ULFA Militants Surrender
Guwahati 28 June, 2010 :

Two ULFA militants namely Puspa Doley alias Purna Doley of Modarguri under Dhakuakhana PS and Ramen Bhuyan alias Rakesh Sarmah of Ahatguri under Gormur PS have surrendered before Lakhimpur District Police Authority yesterday. The surrendered militants have deposited one M-22 Rifle, eighty three ammunitions, two magazine one Chinese Grenade, sixteen detonator, twenty three ULFA letter pad and one ammunition poach bag to the police authority.

 
Encounter with NDFB
Guwahati 23 June, 2010 :

Two NDFB cadre of anti talk group died on the spot in an encounter with police which took place at Itakhola under Chatia PS in Sonitpur district this morning. Police has recovered one 9 mm pistol, 7 rounds of live ammunition, one Chinese hand grenade, four sets of mobile phone and some incriminate documents from their possession.

 
Kidnapped Businessman Rescued
Guwahati 22 June, 2010 :

Shri Ranjit Das of Dhalacherra under Lala Police Station in Hailakandi district who was kidnapped by a gang of ten to twelve miscreants on wednesday night last has been rescued by police safely.

On getting information about the kidnapping, Hailakandi police force under the leadership of SP immediately ambushed all probable escape routs of the area and started chasing the miscreants. After chasing a distance of about two KM an encounter took place in between the miscreants and police in a hilly area for about thirty minutes and the miscreants flee away under cover of darkness. The police searched the area and rescued the victim from the hillock.

The local people and victim have hailed the timely action of police and stated that had the police not reacted in time, the victim could have not been rescued.   

 
ATM Fraudulent withdrawal- Assam Police apprehended inter state criminal gang
Guwahati 16 June, 2010 :

An inter state organized criminal gang involved in fraudulently withdrawal of cash from ATM has been apprehended by Bongaigon Police last night at Bongaigaon. Police has also apprehended two persons namely Md. Arman Khan and Md. Paigam Khan from the SBI ATM Bongaigaon. The arrested persons have come from Fatehpur under Gaya District, Bihar. From their possession Police recovered three ATM Cards, one Debit Card, one PAN Card, two mobile phones, one nail cutter, one small screw driver, one used tube of Fevicol and driving license of Md. Paigam Khan issued by DTO, Koderma, Jharkhand. On interrogation Police further recovered one Maruti Zen Estilo car having Registration No. BR-5907 belonging to Md. Paigam Khan nearby from the ATM. Police also searched the hotel where these two criminals boarded and recovered cash Rupees two lakh twenty eight thousand, one mobile phone and RC of the car issued by DTO Gaya, Bihar.

                        Earlier in the month of February, Police registered a case of fraudulently withdrawal of cash from the SBI ATM, Bongaigaon on complaint from two customers. Accordingly all Bank Officials of Bongaigaon were alerted. Police could also found photographs of three members of the gang involved in the case from the CCTV of the ATM.

                        The members of these criminal gang in a group of three to four persons used to inter in the ATM with their own ATM card. They also used to withdraw some cash from their own account. But they continue to remain inside the ATM and fix a few drops of fevicol or any adhesive in the blank key of the board of the ATM machine. While the genuine customer comes to the ATM and swipe his  ATM card and performs initial activities by touching the screen of the ATM monitor, the monitor asks for password. The customer tries to enter his four digit PIN number by pressing the keys. But as the blank key is blocked by the criminals it do not respond. The criminal from behind observes the customer’s fingers pressing the number of the key Board and thus gets the PIN number. As the ATM Machine do not respond, the criminal advises the customer to go to other ATM. As the customer leaves, the criminal enter PIN number in the machine and accordingly the machine starts responding and delivers cash. 

During interrogation, the criminal reveals that there are two such organized criminal gangs known to them under Fatehpur P.S. Dist. Gaya, Bihar. In both these gangs there are forty to forty five members involved in such criminal activities. The gang leaders used to pay Rs. 1000/- to each member per day in addition to other expenditure. The gang leaders also provide light vehicle to the members. The gang mainly operates its criminal activities in Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Delhi and northern States. The criminals further revealed that about fifteen days back they have started from Gaya with the car and so far fraudulently withdrawn cash from ATM SBI, Patna, Bardhwan, Malda, Cooch Bihar and Bongaigaon.                

The Assam Police has appealed to the general public to remain alert while using ATM and co-operate with the police to nab such criminals.

 
Arms and Ammunitions recovered
Guwahati 21 April, 2010 :
As a counter operative measure, the Sonitpur Police conducted a joint operation with Gurkha Regiment at Dop Dopi Gaon under Rangapara PS on Tuesday last where the NDFB militants took shelter. An encounter was held in between police force and the NDFB militants and the militants managed to escaped. The police, however, recovered one pistol, eleven rounds of 7.6 live ammunitions, two rounds of 9mm live ammunitions, two mobile phone, once mobile charger, two bicycles and one torch light from the encounter place. Police has apprehended four persons for interrogation.  
 
POLICE APPREHENDED ONE K.I.A. CADRE

Dibrugarh Police has apprehended one Kachin Independent Army Cadre namely Sangli Singpho age about 35 years from near Assam Medical College to-day. Police Recovered Stolen Iron and Cement
Guwahati 13 April, 2010 :
Darrang Police has recovered sixty pieces of iron and twenty bags of cement from the house of and premises of Shri Rajat Bhatta of Khatikuchi village and from inside a pond of Shri Dipak Sarma, father-in-law of Rajat Bhatta under Sipajhar PS recently. The materials were stolen from the construction site of Power Grid Tower at Khatikuchi village, Sipajhar.
On received of complains from the power grid tower station the police registered a case and searched the house and premises of Rajat Bhatta and Dipak Sarma and recovered the stolen materials. Both the accused were avoiding police arrest and became untraced. On March, 29 both the accused appeared before police with an anticipatory bail order from the High Court. The police after through interrogation released both of them on bail. The case is under investigation.
 
Police detains one with pistol
Guwahati 22 February, 2010 : Addl.SP(HQ), Dibrugarh detained one Amit Agarwallah of Dibrugarh town from Kusum Hotel last evening and recovered one pistol and one round of live ammunition from his possession.
 
Extremist killed
Guwahati 20 February, 2010 : One unknown extremist was injured during a joint operation launched by police and army last night at Lakhyapur village under Belsor PS. He was taken to Nalbri Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. One pistol with 3 rounds live ammunition and one motor bike were recovered from his possession.

Guwahati 19 February, 2010 : Two suspected MULTA activists were apprehended by Army at Agomoni under Golokganj PS last night. One pistol, 5 rounds of ammunition, one mobile set with SIM card of Bangladesh recovered from them.
 
STF cadre nabbed
Guwahati 19 February, 2010 : One STF cadre namely Dudra Tudu (19) of village Janagaon under Kachugaon PS was apprehended during  search operation conducted by Serfanguri Police with Army at Srighutu area under Serfanguri PS in Kokrajhar district yesterday. On 36 grenade was recovered from his possesion.
 
KCP extremist held
Guwahati 18 February, 2010 : CBI caught one extremist of Manipur\'s Kongleipak Communist Party(KCP) and handed over to Assam Police at Dispur Police Station yesterday. His name is Nong Maithan Inaboi alias Ramesh Singh alias Salai (35) and he hails from Laienkabi Awang Lokai under Lamsung PS in the district of West Imphal. Police later apprehended another person namely Digbijoy Singh alias Dipak (30) of West Imphal from Paltanbazar area yesterday. Digbijoy is a linkman of KCP.

One 7.65 Italian make pistol with 100 rounds of ammunitions and 2 magazine recovered by Fancybazar police at about 5 am this morning from a woman named Tina Marak(35) of Ikrani Basti under Dimapur PS of Nagaland. 
 
NDFB Cadres arrested
Guwahati 16 February, 2010 :
Chirang Police and Army arrested two cadres of anti-talk faction of NDFB namely Jashuwa Champamari(20) and Rongha Nungery (35) at Bamunpara under Sidley PS of Chirang district during their search operation yesterday. One 7.65 mm pistol, 6 rounds of live ammunition and one bike were recovered from their possession.

Guwahati 6 February, 2010 :
One NDFD extremist died on the sopt during an encounter between security forces and anti talk faction of NDFB lastnight at about 1-15 am at Ulubari under Bijni PS in Chirang district. He has been identified as P.Mushahary of Bongaigaon under Bijni PS.
          Police alongwith Army and CRPF recovered one 9mm pistol, 4 rounds live ammunitions, 2 empty cartridges and two extortion notes from the place of occurnce.
 
ULFA Cadre died in encounter
Guwahati 6 February, 2010 :
One ULFA cadre died in an encounter that took place at Garobosti in between Maladhare and Gajapara under Rongchai OP in Lakhipur PS of Goalpara district between Army and ULFA at about 4 am this morning. Two china-made grenades one pistol were recovered from the possession of the deceased who has not yet been identified.
 
One Killed in encounter
Guwahati 5 February, 2010 :
One suspected ULFA was killed in an encounter between Army and ULFA that took place this morning at 4 am at Choraikhola Forest Reserve in Kokrajhar district. 3 live ammunition and 3 empty cartridges were recovered from the deceased.
 
Restriced medicine seized.
Guwahati 5 February, 2010 :
175 packets of Phensedyl, a restricted medicine were recovered by the police yesterday in presence of an Executive Magistrate and Drug Inspector from an abandoned truck which was found on NH31 at More under Golokganj PS in Dhubri district on Wednesday night. Police later brought the truck to Chagolia OP. Each packet conatins 200 bottles. Police seized the same.

Kidnapped person rescued by police
Guwahati 2 February, 2010 :
Dr.N.G.Dutta of Rangapara has been rescued by a police pary led by the Supdt.of Police, Sonitpur from Muamari under Orang PS of Udalguri district at about 3pm today. Dr. Dutta was kidnapped this morning at about 6-45 am by some unknown miscreants from Thakurbari Road under Rangapara PS in Sonitpur district.

Suspected N D F B Killed in encounter.
Guwahati 25 January, 2010 : A suspected NDFB cadre was killed in an encounter with Police and 3rd Assam Rifles this morning at Nijora Centre under Majbat PS in Udalguri District. Another suspected NDFB cadre managed to flee away. One 9mm Pistol, a magazine, 8 rounds of ammunition and a mobile handset were recovered from the place of occurrence.
 
NDFB activist dies in encounter
Guwahati 19 January, 2010 : NDFB activist Ananta Brahma alias Pachima died in an encounter between security force and anti-talk faction of NDFB that took place at Amlaguri under Kokrajhar PS last night. Police and army recovered one 9 mm pistol and five rounds of live ammunition from the place of occurance.
 
CAttle seized
Guwahati 19 January, 2010 :
Fakirganj police seized 17 Haryana breed cattle from an engine-boat near village Chalakura under Fakirganj PS in Dhubri district yesterday. Police were conducting patrolling duty on river Brahmaputra. The boat was also seized and three occupents of the boat namely Md. Razzak Ali Mandal, Md. Nazrul Sheikh and Md. Azid Ali Bepari were apprehended as they could not produce any document about the cattle.
 
TWO NDFB CADRES DIE
Guwahati 19 January, 2010 :

Two cadres of anti-talk faction  of NDFB died on the spot in an encounter with Police and 19 Madras Regiment of Army at village Bangshijhora under Kajigaon P.S. in Kokrajhar district  today at about 11  A.M. three women cadres of NDFB alongwith a linkman were also apprehended . Security forces recovered one AK-47 Rifle, 15 Rounds of live ammunition, one Pistol and one  Grenade from the place. Operation is going on till writing of this news.

 
Passing Out Parade at Mandakata
Guwahati 13 January, 2010 :

The Passing-out Parade of 95th batch of newly-recruited constbles consisting of 552 recruits, (477 of 23rd AP(IR) Battalion and 75 of Assam Commando Battalion) was held at Mandakata Commando Battalion premises today. They have successfully completed a 43 week training.
          Director General of police(DGP), Assam, Shri Shankar Barua attended the programme as Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Shri Barua praised the Constbles who have shown their skill in the passing out parade and expressed the hope that they would keep it up in future. The DGP asked them to maintain physical fitness and to get themselves acquinted with the modern technology so that they can handle sophisticated weapons, computer etc. easily. Shri Satyen Gogoi, Commandant, Commando Bn. also addressed the gathering, Shri G. Bhuyan, Addl. DGP(TAP) and other senior Police officers were also present on the occassion.
          The programme of the Passing-Out Parade included oath taking, Marchpast, distribution of prizes, band display etc.

 
IED Recovered
Guwahati 2 January, 2010 :

8th Maratha Regiment recovered two IEDs last night. The IEDs were kept under the Chalingi Railway bridge in between Gohpur and Dubia Railway station in Sonitpur District.

 
Bangladeshi Apprehended
Guwahati 31 December, 2009 :

BSF personnel of 22nd BN BSF camping at Bongshirehar apprehended a Bangladeshi national Abdur Rahman (40) of Village Rolakata in the district of Hurigram of Bangladesh on 29 December, 2009. After interrogation, he has been handed over to South Salmara PS in Dhubri district yesterday.

 
Cattle Seized
Guwahati 31 December, 2009 :

Chagolia Police detained 14 (fourteen) Haryana breed big size cattle on NH-31 at Assam under Golokganj PS in Dhubri district in the intervening night of 29 and 30 December. Police seized the unclaimed cattle and lodged an FIR at Golokganj PS. The cattle have been kept at Gouripur town Gosala. 

 
NDFB arrested
Guwahati 29 December, 2009 :

One NDFB cadre Santosh Sargiary (19) was arrested by Baska Police and army yesterday from Bhagdoba village under Goreswar PS in Baska district. Explosive weighing 125 gm, one detenator, one demand letter and cash Rs.14000/- were recovered from his possassion.

 
IEDS Recovered
Guwahati 21 December, 2009 :

Jorhat Police recovered 4 IEDS from a bus coming to Guwahati from Sonari. Police has detained the driver, handyman, conductor and 4 passengers of the bus for interrogation at Teok Police Station.

 
Suspected ULFA killed
Guwahati 20 November, 2009 :
One suspected ULFA cadre died in an encounter that took place today at 03.30 hrs between Police and suspected ULFA cadres at Padumbari near Hemlota Dhaba under Jalukbari PS. Another cadre managed to escape. One pistol was recovered from the slain person.
 
Gun Recovered
Guwahati 16 November, 2009 :
Kalapani Police recovered one SBML gun from one Sahidur Islam(25) of village Assamkata under Mankachar PS of Dhubri district on 14 November. The gun was allegedly snatched away by some culprits who have also stolen three cows from the house of Sri Rengsin Sangama of village Mongapara under Tura PS in West Garo Hills of Meghalaya. Islam was forwarded to judicial custody.
 
Suspected KLO activist held
Guwahati 16 November, 2009 :
Salkocha Police with Army personnel of 19th Madras Regiment led by SDPO of Bilashipara in Dhubri district apprehended one suspected KLO activist Pranab Das(26) of village Pachim Salbari under Alipurduar PS in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal on the village road at Pukhuripara on 13 November night. Police recovered one handmade single shot pistol with two rounds of live ammunition from his possession. He has been forwarded to judicial custody.

Kokrajhar police with MLI Army conducted search operation at No- Ripu Reserve forest under Bishumuri PP in Kokrajhar PS and recovered 55 rounds of AK 47 live ammunition, 8 UBGL grenades, 2 pencil timers, one 12 volt battery, 8 IED circuit device, 2 IED device, 3 FM Channel receiver, 3 HC 36 hand grenades, 3 Chinese grenades, 3 IED time device(green), 6 IED timer (small), 156 detonators, 1 Pakistan made hand grenade, 1 USA made 7'62 auto pistol. The arms and ammunitions were seized, a recently surrendered 3rd Bn NDFB cadre was with the police party.
 
Cattle Seized
Guwahati 10 November, 2009 :
Salkocha Police seized one truck with twenty five cattle in the intervening night of 8 and 9 November during checking on NH31 at Salkocha Baunglow Tiniali under Chapor PS. The truck was proceeding from Chapor side towards Gauripur in Dhubri district without any document. The driver and Khalashi of the truck were arrested. They were forwarded to judicial custody yesterday. The cattle have been kept in a pound at Tilapara.
 
Street Play Organized by Assam Police
Guwahati 6 November, 2009 :
Assam Police has started a programme of holding street-play ( 'Bator Nat' ) on police-public relationship, traffic problem etc. at different important locations of the city to create awareness among the public. The first such street-play was held today in front of the Jalukbari Police Out Post which was inaugurated by Shri Shankar Barua, Director General of Police, Assam. In his brief speech, Shri Barua said that such street play would be held in other places also. The attractive street play was witnessed by a large number of pedestrians and others. Prominent artists including Smti Chetona Das performed various roles in the street play. Shri Swapnaneel Barua, Secretary, Sports and Cultural Affairs, Shri Pallab Bhattacharya, IGP(CWR), Shri Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, IGP(L&O) and Shri Debojit Hazarika, SP Kamrup also attended the programme. Street plays were also held at Kachari, Adabari and in front of Commerce College today.

Guwahati 5 November, 2009 :

A street play will be held in front of  Jalukbari Police Station on 6th November, 2009 (Friday). The street play organized by Assam Police will start at 9 am.

Guwahati 5 November, 2009 :

Assam Police has made necessary security arrangement for one day International (ODI) Cricket match to be played between Australia and India at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati on Sunday next. This was stated by Shri P. Bhattacharyya, IPS (CWR) at a press meet held today at the Conference Hall of Nehru Stadium today. Shri Bhattacharyya has appealed to the media to cooperate in holding the match smoothly so that the people could enjoy it. Addressing the press meet, Shri P. Hajela, Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) said that the spectators would not be allowed to carry certain materials which were written in the back said of the ticket. Shri P.C Saloi, Sr. S.P. (City) said that the Australia team would arrive at 3 PM on 6th November and they would stay in Hotel Nakshatra. The India team will stay in Hotel Brahmaputra, he added. Shri Saloi elaborated the security arrangements made by the Police in view of the ODI. He informed the media persons that their was no specific threats form any quarter. Shri P. Pujari S.P. (Traffic) has described the traffic regulations to be in force before and during the match.

 
Bangladeshi deported

A Bangladeshi national namely Suman Bepari (25) of village Mangalpur under Dhaka district of Bangladesh has been pushed back on 30 October, 2009 to Bangladesh after completion of his conviction period. He was detected at Targhat under Gauripur PS if Dhubri district on 8 Sept' 2009.
 
Suspected ULFA killed
Guwahati 3 November, 2009 :
A suspected ULFA extremist died in an encounter between ULFA and Army/Police last night on 3rd Nov' 2009 at Boko Hadim Road under Boko PS in Kamrup district. Another suspected ULFA extremist fled away. During search, police recovered one AK-47 rifle with magazine.
 
Suspected Extremist Killed
Guwahati 30 October, 2009 :

One unidentified suspected extremist sustained bullet injuries during an encounter that took place at No-6 Railway Gate at Bamunimaidam under Chandmari PS at 3-30 a.m. today between police and sustected extremist. The injured person was admitted into GMC Hospital where he succumed to his injuries. Three other suspected extremists fled away.

          Police recovered one pistol, two rounds of live ammunition, four rounds of empty ammunition, two PTD, one electronic detenator and one nine volt battery from place of occurance.

 
NDFB Nabbed
Guwahati 28 October, 2009 :
Police and Army today nabbed dreaded NDFB cadre M H Basumatary alias Dhancharang (25) of village Barbazar under Bijni PS of Chirang district. Basumatary, a member of 3rd Battalion of NDFB, was apprehended at Palagaon of Charaibil under Gossaigaon Sub-division this morning.
 
S.S.B. Recruitment: date extended

CISF to appoint 1033 Constables from Assam

Two extremists killed
Guwahati 23 October, 2009 :
Two cadres of anti-talk faction of NDFB died in an encounter last night with Army and Police at Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar district. Two Italy-made pistols and two China-made grenades and seven 9mm live ammunitions were recovered from them.

One unidentified extremist died in an encounter that took place at Moina Kholong under Gorchuk OP of Guwahati City Police area last night. One 9 mm loaded pistol, 300 gm explosive materials, 9 volt Dura Cell battery and one electric switch were recovered from his possession by the Police.
 
RESTRICTION ON THE MOVEMENT OF VEHICLE DURING CHHATHA PUJA:
Guwahati 23 October, 2009 :
In view of the Chhatha puja festival on 24th and 25th October the following restriction on movement of vehicular traffic shall be effective in the city w.e.f.12.00 hours on 24-10-2009 till deparature of the devotees from puja locations on the same day. On 25-10-2009 the restriction shall be start w.e.f.01.00 hours and shall continue till departure of the devotees from puja locations.
Diversion of vehicular Traffic
  1. All City Buses coming from Bharalumukh side towards Panbazar and Chandmari side will be diverted at Apollo point towards AT Road. Thereafter at SO Bridge point, these buses will take left turn and after crossing Panbazar railway over bridge, these buses will proceed towards MG Road via NO Bridge, Panbazar point, Pantenki to MG Road.
  2. All the light vehicles coming from Bharalumukh side towards Panbazar, Chandmari side will be diverted at Apollo Hotel point through HB Road.
  3. All city buses coming from Chandmari side towards Panbazar and Bharalumukh will be diverted at Guwahati Club point via District Library, RBI, Oasis point, take left turn at NO Bridge point towards SO Bridge point, and take right turn at A.T.Road towards Athgaon flyover to Bharalumukh.
  4. All light vehicles from Chandmari and TC point side towards Panbazar and Bharalumukh side will be diverted at District Library towards HB Road.
  5. All light vehicles from Latasil side towrds Panbazar and Bharalumukh side will be diverted at DC Court point towards HB Road.
  6. All City Buses coming from Khanapara towards Kachari (21 No.) will be allowed to ply upto Gadhulibazar, and then take right turn towards Paltanbazar during the puja hours.
  7. All heavy vehicles coming form Jalukbari side (except the vehicles carrying devotees)   will not be allowed to enter into the city. All these vehicles will be diverted through NH-37 at Jalukbari point. Similarly, from others side like Lakhara, Sixmiles entry of trucks shall be restricted during the period. The whole diversion duty will be supervised by the concerned Traffic I/Cs under supervision of the divisional Tarffic Inspectors.
  8. For all other places, the local I/Cs shall arrange for diversion of traffic as per local requirements without causing inconvenience to other road users.
  9. On the stretch of HB Road from Sani Mandir to Panbazar Police point traffic shall be allowed both way during puja period.

Sector II- Parking of vehicles:This will have the following important points .....

  1. The vehicles carrying devotees coming from Bharalumukh side will be allowed to park their vehicles from Apollo point to FA Road and MG Road crossing on MG Road.
  2. The vehicles carrying devotees coming from Uzanbazar side will be allowed to park along the southern side of the MG Road from Judges filed point to DC Court point (one side).
  3. At Sonaram HS School Ghat all vehicles shall be parked inside the field.
  4. All I/Cs Traffic shall ensure that no parking of vehicles are allowed near puja locations. Parking places should be at a safe location away from the puja locations and should be specified by displaying of boards etc, so that haphazard parking can be avoided. All parking places should be manned by traffic personnel with the assistance of volunteers of the puja committee without fail.
  5. Devotees carrying two/ three wheelers will be allowed to park on the by-lanes of S.C.Goswami Road and Dr.J.C.Das Road. etc.
Sector -III- No Parking Zone.
  1. Since city buses will be diverted through A.T.Road, the strech of road from Bharalumukh to S.O. Brudge will be kept clear of parked vehicles from 12 noon of 24-10-2009 till departure of devotees from Sukleswar Ghat on 25-10-2009. The Traffic I/Cs of Bharalumukh PS, Panbazar PS and Paltanbazar PS will co-ordinate amongst themselves to ensure the above.
  2. Similarly, on MLN Road, ARB Road and on HB Road parking of vehicles shall not be allowed.
  3. No trucks will be allowed to park at Kedar Road, M.S.Road etc from 12 noon of 24-10-2009 till deparature of devotees from Sukleswar Ghat on 25-10-2009.
  4. M.G.Raod from BR Phookan Road point to DC Court point will be kept clear of all parked vehicles.
  5. Other slow moving vehicle like hand cart, rickshaw, pony cart will not be allowed to enter into the restricted zone from 12 Noon of 24-10-2009 till deparature of devotees from  Sukleswar Ghat on 25-10-2009.
 
Police Commemoration Day Observed
Guwahati 21 October, 2009 :
Police Commemoration Day was observed today at 4th Assam Police Battalion premises at Kahilipara, Guwahati with a solemn function attended by officers and personnel of Assam Police. Commemoration parade started at 8 A.M. Shri Shankar Barua, Director General of Police, Assam placed floral wreath on the memorial column. Speaking on the occasion Shri Barua said that altogether 833 Policemen sacrificed their lives for our motherland during the period from September 2008 to August 2009 and out of them 18 were from Assam Police. Paying respectful homage to these jawans, the DGP said that this day was being observed to commemorate their supreme sacrifice.
          The names of 833 personnel from different state Police and Paramilitary forces of our country who have lost their lives while performing duty were read out at the function by the DGP and other high officials of the Assam Police. All officers in order of precedence laid floral wreath on the memorial column. Gun salute was given and 2 minutes silence was also observed.
          Police Commemoration Day is observed through out the Country on 21st October every year in memory of those Policemen who lost their lives on duty during the previous year in different parts of the Country. It may be mentioned here that on 21st October 1959 Chinese Army killed 9 (nine) brave CRPF personnel at Kangkala, a forward area of Ladakh. They had gone there to open a Check Post. Since then this day is observed throughout the Country.

 
Arms and Ammunition recovered
Guwahati 20 October, 2009 :
Kokrajhar Police and 11th Maratha Regiment condcted search in a house at village Latamari under Gossaigaon PS in the district of Kokrajhar last night and recovered one 9 mm Pistol, one Carbine, one 7.85 Pistol, one Bolt Action Rifle, one IED, 20 Gelatin Sticks, 2 kgs of explosive powder and 109 rounds of ammunition. The house owner was arrested.
 
Police Commemoration Day
Guwahati 20 October, 2009 :
Most of the Police of security officials in India might be unaware of the tragic incident of 21st Oct/1959, when Chinese army in cold-blood killed nine CRPF officials at Kongka La, a forward area in Ladakh. They were part of a patrol party of the Intelligence Bureau headed by a daredevil Deputy Central Intelligence Officer (DCIO), Karam Singh who had gone to open a forward check post in that area. Eleven others CRPF officials alongwith Karam Singh were badly injured and subsequently arrested by the Chinese army. They were severely tortured to confess that they had trespassed into the Chinese territory. When the Indian Govt. strongly protested, the Chinese released the captives and returned the dead bodies on 14th Nov/1959.
          Hence, 21st Oct. is observed as Commemoration Day every year by the Police all over India to mark as respect for the bravery of these nine policemen who laid their lives for their motherland.
       This day is celebrated in memory of those brave Police Officers and men who laid their lives in the service of the Nation.From1-9-2008 to 31-8-2009 there are total of 833 (Eight hundred thirty three) Police men who in the course of their duty made supreme sacrifice for their Motherland braving all odds, out of which eighteen were Assam Police personnel who worked with us till the other day but are no more with us today. Their names will for ever be embellished in golden letters in the annals of glorious Assam Police history.

 
Kidnapped person rescued
Guwahati 16 October, 2009 :
Lumding Police Station staff alongwith 8th APBn. led by S.P. Nagaon and SDPO, Hojai rescued one kidnapped person Inul Hoque, S/O Matachin Ali of village Udali Tinali under Lanka PS from a jungle near Lumding-Udali road on October 14. He alongwith two persons including Titu Bora of village Kaki Sankarpur was kidnapped by a group of anti-social Chakma Youth on the same day. Bora has safely arrived his house on october  14. Another person is yet to be rescued. Vigorious search operation is going on.
 
Businessmen rescued by Police
Guwahati 15 October, 2009 :

The Joypur Police of Dibrugarh District has rescued a person from the clutches of kidnappers and arrested  all six of them following a tip off from the local Police on 11th October,’2009. According to the delayed report, a businessman Makhan Saikia (35), son of Niron Saikia of Ushapur Khanikar village was kidnapped by a six member team of miscreants and proceeded towards Duliajan in their Maruti van bearing registration on. AS04C-1003. The local people reported the incident to both Joypur and Duliajan Police who jumped into action and laid a trap at Adarsha village road in Duliajan. The Police arrested all the six kidnappers and rescued the person. All the kidnappers were sent to jail custody.

 
Restriction on sales of bombs etc.
Guwahati 15 October, 2009 :

The Govt. of Assam has directed all the Deputy Commissioners of the state to impose restriction on sale and purchase of bombs/Crackers/sound producing fireworks etc. which create sound pollution and to advice the dealers of crackers etc. not to import high sounding bombs, Crackers, fireworks etc. in the interest of safety and security of the public during Dewali  and Kali Puja. They have been requested to refer to Govt. message no. PLA 10/2000/Pt-I/89 Dated 9-11-2001 regarding  control of sound system etc. and also to take appropriate security measures during Kali Puja/Dewali  festivals including the period immediately proceeding and following the  day of the festival so that there is no breach of peace. Copies of the above messages were given to Police Deptt. also.

Guwahati 12 October, 2009 :
A member of the anti-talk faction of NDFB died in an encounter with Army Police and CRPF in a jungle near village Rangidhala of Shimla OP under Patacharkuchi PS last night. An Italy-made 9 mm pistol, four rounds of live ammunition, two hand grenades, one wireless set and some incriminating documents were recovered from the place of occurrence. 5/6 extremists fled away from the place.

ULFA activist Prosanta Bora alias Bhai alias Tilok Phukan of village Dagati Baghar Chuck under North Lakhimpur PS was apprehended by a Police team led by Inspector D. Dutta, O/C, North Lakhimpur PS at Na Ai Balighat, Panigaon yesterday.

Dhubri Police apprehended one Bangladeshi national namely Sahadat Hussain (19) of village Pakhiura under Kurigram district of Bangladesh on Saturday last at New Ghat under Dhubri PS.
 
Meeting of IGPs (Int.) and Home Secretaries of NE States
Guwahati 9 October, 2009 :

First quarterly meeting of the Home Secretaries and Inspector Generals of Police (SB/Intelligence) of North Eastern States was held today in the Conference Hall of the Assam Police Headquarters,  Ulubari, Guwahati. The meeting reviewed  the security situation of the NE States, progress of implementation of the schemes of modernization of State Police Forces, rehabilitation of surrendered militants, upgradation  of infrastructure of training, status in regard to filling up of vacancies/ sanction of Additional posts etc. The meeting attended by Shri Naveen Verma, IAS, Joint Secretary, NE. Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi emphasised on better coordination and sharing of information among the Police and Intelligence agencies of the NE States. The meeting was addressed by Shri Verma, Shri Shankar Barua, IPS, Director General of Police, Assam and Dr. Anand Kumar, Joint Director, SIB, Guwahati. Welcome address was delivered by Shri S.C. Das, IAS, Principal Secretary, Home and Political Deptt. and Vote of thanks was given by Shri Khagen Sarma, IPS, Addl. Director General of Police, Special Branch, Assam. Shri J Baruah, Commissioner, Home, Assam was also present in the meeting. The Inspector Generals of Police and Home Secretaries of the NE States attended the meeting.

 
Dr. Jyotsna Rout gets Sahitya Akademi

Dr. Jyotsna Rout has received Sahitya Akademi translation Award, 2008 for translation of Chandra Prasad Saikia’s “Maharathi” from Assamese to Oriya. The award was presented by Shri Sunil Gangopadhyaya, Chairman of Sahitya Akademi to Dr. Jyotsna Rout on September 20, 2009 at Bangaluru. Dr. Rout is the wife of Shri A. P. Extortionists held at Haflong
Guwahati 5 October, 2009 :

Two suspected NSCN cadres Ramnaigewari and  Robert Rangkhal were cought  redhanded by Haflong Police yesterday when they came to collect Rs. 30000/-(Rupees thirty thousand) from Shri Ratan Das, a gate-grill shop owner of Haflong Bazar. One 1.36 China-Made hand grenade and a demand note were recovered from them.

 
C.M. Apraises Assam Police
Guwahati 1 October, 2009 :
Shri Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister of Assam has said that normalcy was resorted in Assam because of efforts made by Assam Police. Speaking on the occasion of Assam Police Day this morning at the 4th A.P.Bn. premises at Kahilipara as Chief Guest. Shri Gogoi offered his thanks to the Assam Police for their ability in maintaining law and order in the state. He further said that steps were being taken to find solutions to some problems being faced by the police. The C.M. said that it was a good sign that extremists of North Cachar Hills were coming back to the mainstream. He handed over Chief Minister's Police Medal, Gallantry Medal, Police Medal forMaritorious Services and Fire Service Medal to 29 officers and personnel of Assam Police in the function. Assam DGP Shri Shankar Barua also addressed the gathering. Other programme of the day included parade, march past and presenting salute to the Chief Minister.
 
Two Bangladeshis Apprehended
Guwahati 1 October, 2009 :

One Bangaladeshi national Sujan Ali (21) of village Bamunerchar of Kurigram district in Bangladesh was apprehended by Kalapani Police in Dhubri district on Tuesday last. He was brought to Kalapani OP for interrogation

          3 Sikh Regiment personnel apprehended another Bangladeshi namely Anarul Islam (20) of village Italukandha of Kurigram district of Bangladesh at Hatisingimari Bazar in Dhubri district on the same day. He was handed over to Kharubandha OP and forwarded to judicial custody on the next day.

Girl Rescued

One Smti Uma Adhikari (21) of village Kheksiali of Dhubri district was rescued by police from Shillong on Sept' 26 last. Uma, a student of Chilarai College was kdnapped from R K Mission Road, Dhubri while she was returning from a Tutorial Centre on Sep' 13th. Accused Rinku Seikh alias Muktasim Ahmed of village Meterjhar under Golokganj PS of Dhubri district was arrested.
 
Bangladeshi Pushed Back

Three Bangladeshi nationals viz Rahim Badsha (30), Abdul Khaleque (45) and Rekeya Paramanik (35) were pushed back to Bangladesh on 25th Sept' 2009 through Sahapara BSF BOP in Dhubri district after complition of their conviction period.

An unidentified NDFB cadre died on the spot in an encounter that took place at Thaichuguri under Kachugaon PS of Kokrajhar district at 12.30 am on Sept 27, 2009 between police and anti-talk faction of NDFB. Two other NDFB cadres fled away. One pistol was recovered for the place of occurance.
 
Seminar on ensuring harmony
Guwahati 23 September, 2009 : Meghalaya Governor Shri R.S. Moshahary has said that India is a nation in making where a handful of agents foment Communal conflict. He was inaugurating a national seminar on “ensuring harmony : the role of police and civil society” at the International Convention Centre, Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, Panjabari, Guwahati today. Shri Mooshahary further said that the civil society has a role to play in promoting harmony and integration. He also dwelt at length on the role to be played by police and other relevant aspects. In the inaugural function, welcome address was delivered by Shri Shankar Barua, DGP, Assam and Chairman, Project Aashwas. Shri Jishnu Barua, Commissioner and Secretary, Govt. of Assam addressed as Guest of honour. The seminar was organised by Assam Police in collaboration with National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), New Delhi. Jiletin Sticks, Fuse wire recovered

Badarpur GRPF recovered 320 Jiletin and 80 meter of fuse wire on 20th September morning at Karimganj Railway Station from Silchar Tripura Passenger train. Two Mizo youths were arrested in this connection.

One ULFA linkman namely Jaiprakash Rai(27) of village Khudra Basugaon Suterpara under Kokrajhar PS was apprehended last evening by a joint search operation team of police, army, CRPF and ITBP.
 
NDFB's Gun Making Factory Busted

Army and Police in a joint operation busted one NDFB’s Gun-making factory at Labdanguri No. 2 Village under Bijni PS of Chirang District and recovered 6 (six) rounds of 9 mm live ammunition, 3 Rounds of 7.65 live ammunition, 20 Rifle coiling spring, 15 firing pin, 7 iron pipes, 1 Hydrogen Gas Cylinder, 1 compressor Machine, 1 Welding Machine, 5 Kg. of charcoal and 1 toolbox on 15th September Night One Kamal Basumatary (40 years), son of Mangal Singh Basumatary of No-2 Labdanguri under Bijni P.S has been apprehended in this connection.

Bikelifters Arrested
Guwahati 14 September, 2009 : Four bikelifters namely Konkon Das, Biju Barua, Cintu Bora and Priyanku Sarmah were arrested by police personnel of Khelmati OP under North Lakhimpur PS in Lakhimpur district during search and raids conducted yesterday. The police team also recovered four stolen bikes.
 
Dibrugarh Police investigating in Money Circulation Schemes- 4 absconding
Guwahati 13 September, 2009 :

Dibrugarh Police have registered a suo moto case after a thorough  study of the money circulation schemes floated by various companies of different magnitude in Dibrugarh district on September 11, 2009 (Case No. DBR PS 458/09 U/S 4 of Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978 and Sec 420 of IPC). The investigating officer (I/O) is Dr. V.Siva Prasad Ganjala, IPS; Addl SP(HQ), Dibrugarh. The actual investigation started well before and it involves the study of various provisions of the Act, the judgments of various courts, collection of brochures of these companies operating, analysis of the schemes floated and interview with certain customers etc.

            As of now the I/O could narrow down to 14 companies operating in Dibrugarh District which have to be booked under this Act. One Company registered as Ashakiron Pvt Ltd with head office at Jorhat and doing the business in money circulation schemes under guise of Insurance Associate of some big firms was raided yesterday. Its bank account in the State Bank of India, Jorhat Branch was seized for further withdrawals w.e.f. 1730hrs on 11.09.2009. It is learnt that an amount of Rs.1,93,00,000 is presently in the bank account.  The Managing Director, two Directors and Chief of office are absconding. Their mobile phones are switched off. The office of the Aashakiron Pvt Ltd which floats various schemes under the name Sanjivan was sealed at 1730hrs on 12.09.2009. Efforts are on to track down the absconders. Two Bank A/Cs of the AASTHA Pvt Ltd (One in SBI and other in ICICI) H/O Tinsukia were seized w.e.f. 1130 hrs on 12.09.2009. In the days to come some more organizations will come under the scanner of the investigation.

              The Police have appealed to the public not to make any transaction with the unauthorized non-banking financial companies. “Money Circulation Schemes” throughout the nation including Assam are eating way money of the gullible public by luring them to become rich overnight through such schemes.

 
Revolver Recovered
Guwahati 10 September, 2009 :

A handmade revolver was recovered by the police from the possession of one suspected MULTA activist Elahi Seikh of village Chatibhui under Mankachar PS of Dhubri district on Monday last. A case has been registered under Arms Act and he has been forwarded to the judicial custody on the next day.

          Golokganj Police with CRPF conducted search in the house of one person at village Chapar Balajan under Golokganj PS on Monday and take him to the police station for interrogation. He is suspected to be a NDFB linkman.

 
4 Arrested in Dhubri District
Guwahati 5 September, 2009 :
One Mohidul Islam and three others were arrested and forwarded to the judicial custody on Spetember 2 last in Dhubri district. They were occupants of two trucks loaded with thirtyseven cattle which were detected by Shri Bhaskar Das, ACS, CO Bilashipara and Bilashipara Police staff on August 31 on NH 31 at Pasuarkhal under Bilasipara PS. The cattle were kept at Bilasipara pound. A case has been registered under prevention of cruelty to animal act and transportation of animal rule.
 
Bangladeshi held
Guwahati 5 September, 2009 :
One Bangladeshi national namely Ali Hussain (28) of village Airm ari in the district of Bangladesh was apprehended by Dhubri PS staff led Shri Subhasish Barua, APS, Dy.SP(HQ) Dhubri during checking at Jhagrapar Police Check Gate yesterday. One Nokia mobile phone with one Indian Airtel SIM card was recovered from him.
 
Bangladeshis Deported
Guwahati 3 September, 2009 :
Five Bangladeshi nationals were pushed back to Bangladesh through Sahapara BOP of Dhubri district on September 1st after completion of their conviction period. They were apprehended on 21 August, 2009. They are belong to village New Market Juraghat in the district of Khulna of Bangladesh.
 
NDFB Linkman held
Guwahati 3 September, 2009 :
Acting on a tip-off, officers-in-charge of Gauripur PS and Tamarhat PS with staff and 20th AP(IR) Bn. led by Dy.SP(HQ), Dhubri searched the house of Md. Salim Seikh (45) S/O Kayum Seikh of village Bagribari in the district of kokrajhar in the night of 1st Sept in connection with Tamarhat PS case No.17/09 and picked him up as NDFB linkman.
 
2 Boats with Cattle held
Guwahati 2 September, 2009 :
Two boats with 34 Haryana breed cattle were seized by police when they were patrolling in the river Zingiram in Dhubri district. Eight occupents of the boats namely Alauddin, Rahij Ali, Shahjan Ali, Abdul Karim, Kasham Ali, Abdul Alim, Rezzak Ali ad Raizuddin were apprehended by the police. Thy could not show any document. All of them have been forwarded to judical custody yesterday and cattles are kept at Baladoba pond.
 
MULTA Apprehended
Guwahati 2 September, 2009 :
9th Maratha Regiment and Bongaigaon police conducted search operation at village Kaitpara under Abhayapuri PS in Bongaigaon district last night at 2-30 am and apprehended 2 MULTA activists namely Abdul Mallack (38) and Abdul Rahim (32). Two IEDs were recovered from their possession.
 
Extremist died
Guwahati 2 September, 2009 :
One unknown extremist died at Naba Nagar (Hills) under Bhangaghar PS in Guwahati City in an encounter between Police/Commando and the extremist last night at about 3-30 am. One pistol was recvered from the place of occurance.
 
2 ULFA Militants Killed
Guwahati 1 September, 2009 :

One ULFA cadre namely Khura Rava was killed at village Katarbari under Palashbari PS in a joint operation by police and Army last night at baout 11 pm. One pistol, 3 rounds of ammunition, medicine, explosives etc were recovered from the place of occurance

 
Bangladeshi Nationals Held
Guwahati 1 September, 2009 :

Police apprehended one Bangladeshi national namely Md. Motiur Rahman of village Soun Sat Gopalpur in Kurigram district of Bangladesh at New Ghat Dhubri yesterday. He has been brought to Dhubri PS for interrogation. A case has been registered
          Another Bangladeshi national namely Rokeya Paramanik (35), W/O Altafur Paramanik of village Titiyapara under PS Jamalpur of Bangladesh has been apprehended on 30 August by 29th Bn BSF of Barairalga BOP of Dhubri district. She has been forwarded to judical custody yesterday. 

 
ULFA militant killed in encounter
Guwahati 1 September, 2009 : One ULFA cadre was killed when an encounter took place during joint operation by army and police at about 2-45 am today at Namrup. One pistol and seven rounds of ammunition were recovered.
 
Training On Drug Trafficking
Guwahati 28 August, 2009 :

A 2 days capsule course on Drug Trafficking and Drug Laws Enforcement was inaugurated today by Shri Subhas Goswami, IPS, Addl. Director General of Police, CID, Assam at the CID Headquarters, Guwahati. In his inaugural speech, Shri Goswami said that a combined effort should be made to stop the menace of drug trafficking which is dangerously affecting the country. Reminding responsibilities of the policemen for the society, he said the war against drug trafficking is not lost. The war is on, he added. Shri Mukesh Sahai, Inspector General of Police, CID, Assam also addressed the meeting. About 35 (thirty five) police officers ranging from the rank of ASI to the rank of Addl. S.P. are being imparted training in the programme organized   by the CID in collaboration with Narcotics Control Bureau, (NCB), Guwahati.

 
Kidnapped Engineer Rescued
Guwahati 27 August, 2009 :
A joint team of Dhekiajuli Police, 46th Assam Rifles and 8th Maratha L9 Regiment rescued kidnapped Senior Section Engineer of Railway department Shri Sanjay Kumar Lama yesterday around 10-30 am from village Non Key Belsiri under Missamari PS. Shri Kumar was kidnapped from a worksite in Dhekiajuli.

Bangladeshi apprehended
Guwahati 11 August, 2009 :
One Bangladeshi national namely Md. Hasan Ali (38) of village Pakhiura under Kurigram district of Bangladesh was apprehended by 29th Bn. BSF at Mantirchar Pt.-I under Dhubri PS on August 9 when he was crossing Indo-Bangladesh border towards India. Rs.600/- of Indian currency was recovered from him. BSF handed him over to Dhubri PS and and Dhubri PS forwarded him to judicial custody yesterday.

Guwahati 10 August, 2009 :
One Md.Aijan Ali alias Aji Ali(25) was apprehended by police on August 8 at Panbari. He was carrying sixty fake currency notes of Rs.500/- denomination.
 
One held at Dhubri border
Guwahati 6 August, 2009 :

29th Bn. BSF personnel apprehended one Indian national namely Rafiqul Islam (18) of village Dighaltari under Dhubri PS when he was crossing border from Indian side towards Bangladesh near BP No.1028/75 on tuesday last. Indian currency note of Rs.12007/- and one mobile phone were recovered from his possession. After interrogation, BSF handed him over to Dhubri PS. 

 
Girl rescued by Dispur Police
Guwahati 6 August, 2009 :

Dispur Police along with Global Organisation for Life Development(GOLD) rescued a girl who was forced to enter into flesh trade.

On 3 August, Ms Manju Ahmed(18), D/O Late Eunus Ahmed of Bazarpatty, North Lakhimpur lodged a complaint at Dispur PS stating that 3 months back she was brought to Guwahati by one Mrs.Deepa Malakar with a promise to give her a job and since then she was forcing to enter into flesh trade.

On receipt of the information, an FIR was lodged in Dispur PS. A police team alongwith members of GOLD led by Ms.Kaveri Sarma visited the house of Deepa Malakar at Jayanagar, Sixmile and one Tapan Malakar apprehended from the house and later arrested in connection with the case. The victim girl was kept under safe custody of GOLD, Guwahati and an effort has been made to apprehended the co-accused  Deepa Malakar. 

 
Flesh Trade - 4 arrested
Guwahati 6 August, 2009 :

on August 4 last 4 suspeted persons were arrested by the police and forwarded to the judicial custody in connection with a written complaint lodged by 8 persons on August 3 at Satgaon PS to the effect that one Debojit Kalita is running anti-social activities at the rented flat of Prafulla Enclave, Namghar Path, Panjabari belonging to Dr.Deben Dewri.

During the search of the house police apprehended the tenant of the flat Debojit Kalita, S/O Shri Jogendra Nath Kalita of Zood Road Tiniali, Guwahati alongwith one Md.Dadu Ahmed (30) S/O Md Tajamuddin Ahmed of North Lakhimpur, CD Road under Lakhimpur PS and 2 girls namely Mariam Begum (20) D/O Md.Kadir Ali and Anu Begum (21) D/O Late Sirmat Ali of village Chapu Gaon under Lakhimpur PS who were suspected to be involved in prostitution and flesh trade inside the flat for their wrongful gain by human trafficking.

During the interrogation both the girls admitted before police that they were engaged by the accused Debojit Kalita in flesh trade who brought them to the flat from Ganeshguri to run prostitution business. 

 
Cattle Seized
Guwahati 5 August, 2009 :

Gauripur Police seized one truck full of cattle on Monday at Lalmati Pt-1 under Gauripur PS in Dhubri district. The seized cattle have been kept in Gauripur town pound.

 
Sex worker involved in human trafficking
Guwahati 5 August, 2009 :

On August 3, 2009 OC Gorchuk PS lodged an ezahar to the effect that 2 men with 3 women viz (1) Md. Nasad Ali  (2) Md Mohe Alom (3) Miss Noore Begum (4) Miss Minu Hazarika and (5) Smti Nikita Saikia were travelling from ISBT, Garchuk to Siliguri in a bus and they were detained on suspecion.

From investigation, it has been revealed that Md Nased Ali and Md Mohe Alom are residents of Delhi, Miss Noore Begum originally from Assam and presently residing at Delhi and Faridabad actually involved in prostitution. Miss Minu Hazarika is a middle aged woman with professional sex worker background and presently involve in human trafficking for sex work. The above persons inducing the girl Miss Nikita Saikia and was taking her to the Delhi for carrying out flesh trade. So they have been arrested and forwarded to the judicial custody and taken into 5 days police remand. The statements of the victim was recorded under section 164 Cr P.C. and produced in the court for her safe custody.

On being investigation the name of local gang members were confirmed. One gang member has been identified but he escaped avoiding arrest. Raid is being conducted for arresting other people involved and getting evidence to book all the culprits.     

 
Bangladeshi currency notes found
Guwahati 3 August, 2009 :

Golokganj Police with Army personnel conducted search operation in the house of one Madhusudan Saha of village South Tekrerchera under Golokganj PS and recovered Rs.8000/- Bangladeshi currency notes and Rs.1500/- fake Indian currency notes on 31 July. One Surat Ali of village Binnachare pt-II under Golokganj PS was apprehended from the said house.
