Guwahati 31 July, 2010 : Kamrup police in a search operation has nabbed two NDFB militants at Boko last night. The search operation was conducted by SP Kamrup at the border area of Kamrup and Goalpara district. Police has recovered two 9 mm pistol and 7 rounds of ammunition from the possession of the arrested militants Sonaram Basumatary and Ramesh Rabha. |

Guwahati 7 May, 2010 : The attention of Assam Police Headquarters has been drawn to certain media reports regarding the arrest and post arrest treatment to Sri Ranjan Daimari, leader of the banned organization NDFB. It has been alleged that the police agencies have over stepped the legal limits and have tried to discriminate against the arrested person vis a vis other arrested leaders of similar banned organizations such as the ULFA.
In this regard it is hereby clarified that there has been no discrimination whatsoever in the handling of Sri Ranjan Daimary as against that of Sri A Rajkhowa and other arrested leaders of ULFA. The leaders of both organizations were produced at the judicial court in the same manner; the persons protesting illegally at the venue of the court were arrested as per law. The facilities of allowing visitors to meet the leaders of both organizations, of accommodation, food, medical check up etc are also similar without any difference at all. |

Guwahati 5 May, 2010 : Assam Police has arrested Shri Ranjan Daimary alias D.R. Nabla alias Abraham Momin alias Bipul Choudhury on 02-05-2010 after he was apprehended and identified on 1st May, 2010. He is arrested in respect of SOU PS Case No. 2/98 under sec. 384 IPC.
The accused is presently under Police custody granted by the Hon’ble Court for 12 days.
By virtue of being the President of the banned outfit the accused has established link with forces inimical to India for procurement of sophisticated arms/ammunition and explosives from the foreign countries with money extorted from different sources and imparting training with help of foreign intelligence agencies with a view to war against lawfully established Govt. as well as to secede from India for establishing an independent Bodoland incorporating the Bodo dominated areas of the State. To this effect he has set up various hideouts and camps in Bangladesh.
Due process of law will follow in respect of interrogation, further arrest in connection with the other cases where the subject is an accused and other follow up actions will be taken.
Assam Police in collaboration with other security forces is taking adequate care to prevent violent designs of the anti national elements and will continue to carry out legal and preventive actions in respect of all militant and terrorist outfits. Assam Police appeals to the esteemed civil society of all communities and the media to co-operate with the forces and contribute towards maintenance of peace and order. |

| 4th. A.P.Battalion Celebrates Rising Day |

Guwahati 28 April, 2010 : The 48th Raising Day of 4th. A.P.Battalion is celebrated with a day long colourful programme in the Battalion Headquarters situated at Kahilipara, Guwahati to-day. Established in 1962, the first Headquarters of the Battalion was set up at Dergaon. Latter on during Naga agitation, the headquarters was sifted to Sontilla in the district of N.C.Hills and jawans were engaged to maintain law and order in the area. But after total distruction of the office building due to devastating fire, the battalion headquarters was sifted to Kahilipara, Guwahati in 1979. Presently the battalion has three Wings, five Border Out Posts and twenty seven platoons including mounted platoon. The present strength of the battalion is one thousand five hundred eighty including officers and staff.
The Chairman-cum-Managing Director, APHC, Ltd. Shri Subhas Goswami participated the celebration as the Chief Guest and took the salute of March Past. Shri Bibhuti Mohan Mishra, Addl.D.G.P.(L/O), Shri Mukesh Sahay, Addl. DGP(CID) and other senior police officers were also present. |

| TRAFFIC SQUADE FOR GUWAHATI CITY |

Guwahati 26 April, 2010 : The Traffic Police, Guwahati City has set up four traffic squades for greater Guwahati to restrain increasing motor vehicle offences and to contain traffic hazards created by young motorcyclists, light commercial vehicles and city buses. One traffic police officer in the rank of Inspector has been placed as the In-Charge of each Traffic Division. The four Traffic Divisions are Pandu, Panbazar, Chandmari and Dispur. The Officer-in-Charge of the Divisions with his traffic squade will control traffic hazards in his respective areas and regulate traffic rules. They will take the help of armed \"NAKAS\" from the Officer-in-Charge of the respective Police Thana. The squades while checking the motorcyclists will also check horn and if the horn is found as not the prescribed one, it will be removed forthwith. The squade will submit action report every day in the evening to the authority which will be reviewed and planning for next course of action will be formulated accordingly. |

Guwahati 12 March, 2010 : The Director General of Police, Assam, officers and staff of Assam Police deeply condole the premature demise of Shri Ravindra Nath Mathur, IPS (Retired) Ex-Director General of Police, Assam died on 11-03-2010 at 11.30 pm at his residence, Ajmer, Rajasthan due to illness. He was 61 years.
Shri Mathur, IPS, an Indian Police Service officer of 1973 batch, Mathur served Assam Police with dedication and sincerity in different capacities with distinction since his joining. During his career spanning 36 years of service, he served as ASP Khasi Hills, SDPO Nongstain, Addl.S.P. Dibrugarh, Commdt. 2nd APBn, SP Lakhimpur, Commdt. 9th.APBn, DIGP(Range), IGP(L/O), IGP(BIEO), IGP MD APHC Ltd, IGP(CID), IGP(Admn), ADGP(Admn), ADGP(CID), DGP(V&AC), DG CD & CGHG Assam, DGP Assam, DG CD & CGHG Assam.
The Director General of Police, Assam and all members of the Assam Police convey their heartfelt condolence and sympathy to the bereaved family and pray to the Almighty God for eternal peace of the departed soul. |
