ROUND-UP ACTIONS ON TERRORIST DURING THE CURRENT FORTNIGHT

ULFA :

                        After the cease – fire by “A” and “C” Coys of 28 Bn of ULFA only the “B” Coy cadres are in Myanmar and reportedly they are facing acute hardship of various kinds. Some of these Cadres are trying extortion and sabotage activities in the Distts. of Upper Assam and also in Arunachal Pradesh. Due to sustained and well co-ordinated operations by Police, CPMF and Army they had not succeeded in the objectives. Recently a number of their cadres had been arrested by security forces.

                        The other 3(three) so-called Bns. of 27^th, 709 and 109 are also in a disarray. Because of severe pressure by their leaders from outside the country they have been trying to detonate explosives in public places. Sustained operation coupled with very hard work done by Assam Police and members of other security forces so far foiled their evil designs. With   co- operation of public, we should be able to ensure peaceful and grand celebration of the Independence Day.

NDFB :

                        The cease – fire ground rules in respect of NDFB (National Democratic Front of Bodo Land) are being implemented in letter and spirit. But the Ranjan Daimary faction of NDFB called 3^rd Bn is continuing with its armed and violent campaign. However Assam Police and the security forces are working relentlessly to ensure safety and security of the public of the State. Assam police is ready to face all such threats caused by any such violent groups. We are watching the situation very closely in Sonitpur where there have been a couple of incidents of kidnapping. Efforts are on to rescue the kidnapped persons unharmed while neutralizing the terrorists.

                        Assam Police has arrested Rubul Ali who is the ss Foreign Secretary of the Fundamentalist Organisation called PULF from Guwahati City along with another person. Rubul Ali had a wide net work with Arakanese Rohingia militant elements with their bases in Bangladesh in order to undertake sabotage and subversive activities in India.

Situation in N.C.Hills. :

                        The situation in Hill district is well under control with a marked decline of ethnic clashes in the recent time.  Sufficient forces are deployed in the districts and necessary actions are being ensured to contain the situation.

Summary of Actions against Extremists  from 31^st  July to 14^th  Aug’2009(upto 1000 hrs).

I) Extremist Neutralized  in encounters with SF :-

1. NDFB (Anti-talk)    - 9 (nine)
2. Weapon recovered from deceased militants NDFB (AT).
   • Pistol       – 9 nos.
   • Revolver -  1 no.
   • Ammns.  – 17 rds.
3. Explosive recovered from deceased militants NDFB (AT).
   • Grenade- 5 nos.

II) Surrender of extremists

1. ULFA – 2 nos. 
2. NDFB- 1 no
3. Weapons deposited by surrendered militants.
   • M/20 Pistol – 2 no.
   • Magazine – 2 nos.
   • Ammns. – 16 rds.
   • AK-56 rifle - 1 no.
   • Magazine.- 2 nos.
   • 7’62 Amns. – 90 rds.
4. Explosives recovered from surrendered militants.
   • PTD Switch  –  7 Nos.
   • TNT              -  4.6 Kg.
   • RDX              - 0.750 Kg.
   • IED              -  1.6 Kg.
